Crisis: Irish Catholic Confederation, 1642

The history of Ireland is a tragic one. Slowly colonized by a foreign power over the course of centuries, the island occasionally revolted against its oppressors, but each revolt ended ignominiously in failure and defeat until the War of Independence of 1922. This committee offers a chance to change that history.

The committee begins at the close of 1642. Ireland, provoked by settler-colonial policies and the persecution of Catholicism, has risen yet again against its colonial master, England, this time under the banner of the Irish Catholic Confederation. Much stands in the way of the Confederation's success, but the civil war in England could enable this rebellion to succeed while all others have failed.

Delegates will take the helm of the Confederation's Supreme Council. There, they must overcome the obstacles facing the committee—from the array of outside enemies to internal divisions—while simultaneously pursuing their own ends. Failure means Ireland becoming the victim of colonization, repression, and even genocide. Of course, each delegate has their own personal agenda, which may stand in the way of the committee's success. Nevertheless, the committee must overcome its internal divisions and defeat those who would see Ireland on its knees. Good luck!
