Crisis: Facebook Board of Directors

Following Elizabeth Warren's surprise victory in the 2020 Presidential Election, it has been revealed that Facebook's failure to remove disinformation from their platform played a decisive role in her victory. The majority of Democrats already supported Warren's mission to "break up big tech,” and Warren's victory—due in part to Facebook—is the last straw for Republicans. With most of the nation now behind the idea of breaking up the giant technology company, the Facebook Board of Directors must find a way to preserve the company as a single entity. The Board plays a vital role in determining the company's failure or success to remain intact, and must gain public support among Americans and political support among members of Congress in the process.

While all members of the board should be focused on the core mission of preserving the integrity of the company and remaining loyal to Mark Zuckerberg, the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Facebook, some may secretly find personal gain in disbanding or exploiting the company. Given Facebook's expansive resources, members must do all that is necessary to ensure that the future of Facebook remains bright.

Crisis Director

Andrew Xu is a member of the Class of 2023, studying International Relations and Economics at Tufts University. Originally from New York City, Andrew grew up in East Brunswick, New Jersey, and is accustomed to the brutal weather of Boston. He became involved with Model UN as a freshman in high school, and quickly fell in love with fast-paced crisis committees. He is intent on remaining involved with MUN at Tufts, where he attended SCSY as a delegate and helped teach middle school students through the Outreach program. Outside of Model UN, he is involved with Tufts Financial Group and Tufts Journal of International Affairs. While not in the Ginn Library drinking alarming amounts of coffee, Andrew can be found defending the state of New Jersey from malicious attacks, enjoying To Pimp a Butterfly for the hundredth time, or taking much-needed power naps throughout the week.
